What it says on the back of the book "Neil MacKay's book takes a thought provoking and detailed look at the potential to create dyslexia friendly learning environments - in the classroom and the school, and as such his book is very much in line with the British Dyslexia Association's initiative - 'Inclusive Education: Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark for LEA's and Schools'. The toolkit is full of practical guidance, empowering ideas and challenging assertions about inclusion. It represents many strategies for meeting diverse learning needs, and methods for overcoming barriers to learning. These are clearly rooted in good practice and based on a wealth of relevant experience that the author has deftly woven into the narrative." Prof. Susan Tresman, British Dyslexia Association Neil MacKay is an independent education consultant and trainer, who has previously worked as a Senior Teacher/SENCo in a large comprehensive school in North Wales. As a consultant in Dyslexia and other SEN issues Neil has originated the phrase and the concept of Dyslexia Friendly Schools and has gone on to work with Education Authorities and Departments in the UK, Hong Kong and Malta. Neil works as consultant to the British Dyslexia Association's "Dyslexia Friendly Schools Initiative" and delivers training in schools, FE Colleges and on behalf of LEAs across the UK. He develops inclusive practice for pupils with dyslexia and other SEN needs with particular reference to harnessing the power of children's multiple intelligences. Over the past three years he has provided whole school training for a majority of schools in Liverpool as part of the City's drive to raise achievement through their Dyslexia Friendly Schools programme.
