What it says on the back of the book Mental measurement is an area filled with unique terms and concepts; standard scores, raw scores, scaled scores, sigma scores, centile scores. Tests often have fancy names and claim to measure impressive traits. From these test scores, psychologists seem to claim access to information unavailable to most people. How is it done? The book "de-mystifies" and explains, in detail, the content of a typical psychological assessment report. It carefully guides teachers through the wide range of assessment materials - explaining the rationale, scoring and evaluation of over 40 tests and then provides a suggested battery of recommended tests for teachers to carry out their own assessment of a child whose performance in school is giving cause for concern. We say... frankly, it seems expensive for such a slim volume, but the information it contains is up to date, comprehensive and accessible. If you really need to understand Teacher Assessment then this book appears to be unique (we're not aware of any equivalent texts) and should prove to be a great resource.
