Detailed Description

Both the ACE Spelling Dictionary and the ACE Spelling Activities consistently receive five-star reviews from home and school users who need to check spellings quickly. ACE Spelling Activities takes learners beyond looking up words to studying spellings and learning from personal lists.  It is designed for users aged seven and above and provides a framework for all learners to get to grips with phonics and the English spelling system. This 2nd addition of ACE Spelling Activities now fully cover the English statutory Spelling Lists for Years 3-6. There is a new six-page section, called Slippery Characters, which focuses on 240 frequently misspelt words between 5 and 13 letters in length.  This provides practice in quickly finding words in a syllable column on a specified page of the ACE Spelling Dictionary and draws attention to the most tricky parts of word spellings.  If words selected from this activity are studied an systematically learned, many misspellings which often persist for a lifetime can be avoided. Whilst especially valuable for dyslexic pupils, the ACE resources are designed to improve spelling and writing performance on a whole-school basis.
