The Flexitable Multiplication and Division Grid (1 to 10) is a soft, flexible plastic times table grid that children fold to find answers to multiplication and division questions. It turns times tables into something a child can hold, fold and see, which helps learners who struggle to remember number facts, including children with dyscalculia.
How the Flexitable works
The red numbers along the top and down the left-hand side of the grid are the multipliers. To work out 5 x 4, a child folds the grid along the 5 on the top row and the 4 in the left-hand column, and the answer, 20, appears in the bottom right-hand corner.
Division is the reverse of multiplication. With 20 in the corner, the child can see that 20 divided by 4 is 5, and 20 divided by 5 is 4. The same grid can also be used to find square roots, reduce fractions to their lowest terms, find number patterns, find a divisor and find a missing factor.
What is new in the pack
Every Flexitable Multiplication and Division pack now comes with everything needed to start teaching straight away:
- The 1 to 10 multiplication and division grid (or grids, in class packs)
- A mixture of plastic coins and plastic counters for hands-on number work
- Basic Maths teaching notes
- 18 pages of Activity Plans, downloaded using the QR code included in the pack
- A link to a how-to-use video
For parents and home use
- Takes the stress out of times tables homework, because your child finds each answer by folding rather than guessing.
- Builds confidence as children start to see the patterns inside each table for themselves.
- The Activity Plans and how-to-use video help you guide short practice sessions, even if maths is not your strong point.
- Made from soft, flexible plastic that can be folded again and again, so it lasts far longer than a paper or card times table chart.
For schools
- Available singly and in packs of 10, 15 and 30, so you can equip a small intervention group or a whole class.
- The Basic Maths teaching notes and Activity Plans give structured activities for whole-class teaching, small-group interventions or one-to-one support.
- Fits the multiplication and division work covered across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, and supports pupils at SEN Support or with an EHCP who need a concrete way into number facts.
- Suits a Quality First Teaching approach, so pupils who need a hands-on resource can use one without being singled out.
Support for dyscalculia
Children with dyscalculia often find it hard to hold number facts in memory and to understand how numbers relate to one another. The Flexitable lets them find each fact by folding and seeing it, rather than relying on recall alone. Because multiplication and division are shown on the same grid, children can see how the two operations connect. The coins and counters add another hands-on way to build number sense alongside the grid. Flexitable describes the grid as a great help to pupils with dyscalculia, and it can be used one-to-one so each child works at their own pace.
Why a hands-on approach helps
Multisensory maths resources let children move between doing, seeing and saying, which helps many learners understand number facts rather than just memorise them. The Flexitable is a low-tech, multisensory resource that needs no batteries, screens or setup.
Whether you are supporting one child at the kitchen table or setting up a times tables intervention for a class, the Flexitable Multiplication and Division Grid gives you a simple, durable resource with lesson ideas included. For tables up to 12 x 12, take a look at the Flexitable 1 to 12 grid.
- Folding times table grid: fold along two red numbers and the answer appears in the bottom right-hand corner
- Teaches multiplication and division on one grid, showing division as the reverse of multiplication
- Also supports square roots, reducing fractions to their lowest terms, number patterns, finding a divisor and finding a missing factor
- Covers the 1 to 10 times tables (a 1 to 12 grid is also available)
- Made from soft, flexible plastic with folding channels, so it lasts far longer than paper or card charts
- Includes plastic coins and counters, Basic Maths teaching notes, 18 pages of Activity Plans (downloaded via QR code) and a how-to-use video link
- Available singly or in packs of 10, 15 and 30
- Materials conform to EN71-3 and US CPSIA safety standards
- Made in England by Flexitable Ltd; UK patent no. 2 323 698 and US patent no. 5,997,305
- Answers appear with a fold. Children find each times table fact by folding the grid, so they can work it out without relying on memory.
- Built with dyscalculia in mind. Seeing multiplication and division on one grid helps learners with dyscalculia understand how numbers relate.
- Lesson-ready, not just a grid. Coins, counters, teaching notes, 18 pages of Activity Plans and a how-to-use video come in every pack.
- Works at home and in class. Buy one for homework support or packs of 10, 15 or 30 for groups and whole classes.
- Made in England to last. Soft, flexible plastic folds again and again and meets EN71-3 safety standards.

- What is a Flexitable Multiplication and Division Grid?
A Flexitable is a soft, flexible plastic times table grid that children fold to find multiplication and division answers. The red numbers along the top and down the left-hand side are the multipliers. Folding along two of them brings the answer to the bottom right-hand corner, so a child finds the fact by doing rather than recalling. - How do you use a Flexitable to multiply and divide?
To multiply, fold the grid along one red number on the top row and one on the left-hand column, then read the answer in the bottom right-hand corner. For 5 x 4, the fold shows 20. Division is the reverse: with 20 in the corner, you can see that 20 divided by 4 is 5 and 20 divided by 5 is 4. - What comes in the Flexitable Multiplication and Division pack?
Every pack includes the 1 to 10 grid or grids, plastic coins and counters, Basic Maths teaching notes, 18 pages of Activity Plans and a link to a how-to-use video. The Activity Plans are downloaded using the QR code included in the pack. - Does a Flexitable help children with dyscalculia?
Yes, Flexitable describes the grid as a great help to pupils with dyscalculia. Learners with dyscalculia often find it hard to hold number facts in memory. The grid lets them find each answer by folding and seeing it, which takes the pressure off recall and helps them notice the patterns inside the times tables. - Can I use a Flexitable at home to help with times tables homework?
Yes, a single Flexitable is well suited to home use. It can be folded again and again and lasts far longer than paper or card, so it can be kept in a school bag or homework drawer. The 18 pages of Activity Plans and the how-to-use video help parents and carers guide short, calm practice sessions without needing specialist maths knowledge. - Are Flexitables suitable for classroom and intervention use?
Yes, Flexitables are available singly and in packs of 10, 15 and 30, so a teacher can equip a small group or a whole class. The Basic Maths teaching notes and Activity Plans give ready-made sessions for whole-class teaching, small-group interventions or one-to-one support, and each child can work at their own pace. - What age or year group is the Flexitable 1 to 10 grid for?
The grid is designed for teaching children multiplication and division, and fits the times tables work covered across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. It is also useful for older pupils who still need support with number facts. For tables up to 12 x 12, Flexitable also make a 1 to 12 grid. - What else can the Flexitable grid be used for besides times tables?
The grid can also be used to find square roots, reduce fractions to their lowest terms, find number patterns, find a divisor and find a missing factor. This means one resource can support several areas of the primary maths curriculum, not just times tables recall.
