ARK Flat Textured Feeding Therapy Spoons (3 Pack)

ARK Flat Textured Spoons are double-sided feeding therapy spoons with a flat profile. They are designed for children and young people with limited lip control, or who find it hard to clear food from a spoon. One side is textured and the other is smooth, and each end gives a different level of tactile input. The pack contains three spoons, shown by ARK in blue, teal and yellow.

How it helps

A traditional spoon bowl can be hard to clear for someone who has difficulty closing their lips around it. The flat shape makes it easier to remove food from the spoon. The textured side adds extra sensory input to the lips and tongue, while the smooth side offers a gentler option. The spoons work best with purees such as yoghurt, apple sauce and stage 1 baby foods, and can also be used as tongue depressors.

For schools

  • Supports feeding programmes set by a speech and language therapist.
  • Three spoons allow one to be in use while others are being washed.
  • Smooth and textured sides give staff two levels of input in one tool.
  • Top-rack dishwasher safe for school kitchens.

For parents and home use

  • Helps make spoon feeding with purees easier at mealtimes.
  • A flat profile suits children who struggle to close their lips around a spoon.
  • Can be hand washed or placed on the top rack of the dishwasher.
  • Use with a therapist or caregiver supervising directly.

Supporting SEND and learning differences

Some children with special educational needs and disabilities have differences in oral motor control or sensory responses that make mealtimes harder. Simple, adaptable tools like these spoons can help adults offer food in a way that suits the child's current skills.

Why texture and shape matter

Feeding therapy often uses tactile input to build awareness of the lips and tongue. A flat spoon reduces the lip closure needed to take food, and different textures let adults gradually change the amount of sensory input a child receives.
