ARK proSqueezer Lip, Tongue and Jaw Exerciser Set
The ARK proSqueezer set contains three V-shaped oral motor tools that give resistance when squeezed. They are designed to support biting skills, tongue elevation and lip closure for children and young people with SEND and oral motor needs. The set was invented by speech and language therapist Angeliki Xygka and is made by ARK Therapeutic in the USA.
How it helps
Each tool is a V shape that springs back after being squeezed, so the jaw, tongue or lips have something to work against. The three tools give graded resistance: magenta is the easiest, yellow is medium and orange is the hardest. ARK suggests starting with magenta and moving on to yellow and then orange. For jaw strength, the indented areas of the yellow tool are placed between the teeth. For lip closure, the magenta or yellow tool is held between the lips and squeezed using only the lips.
For schools
- Three levels in one set let staff follow a clear progression across a therapy programme.
- Colour-coded levels make it easy to see which stage a pupil is working at.
- Supports targeted practice for lips, tongue and jaw with one kit.
- Can be cleaned by hand or on the top rack of a dishwasher.
For parents and home use
- Helps you continue exercises recommended by your child's therapist.
- Clear colour progression helps children see their progress.
- Short, simple exercises fit easily into a daily routine.
- One set covers several goals, so there is less to buy and store.
Supporting SEND and learning differences
Some children with SEND and learning differences have low strength or control in the lips, tongue or jaw. This can affect eating, drinking and speech clarity. Graded resistance exercises give a structured way to practise and build these skills over time.
Why resistance exercises can help
Working against gentle resistance is a common way to build strength and control in muscles. In oral motor work, practitioners use tools like these so a child can feel the effort needed and gradually increase it. The proSqueezer should be used under adult supervision at all times, ideally following a therapist's advice.
Choosing your resistance level
- Magenta: easiest, a good starting point and suitable for lip closure practice.
- Yellow: medium, with indented areas for jaw strength and also usable for lip closure.
- Orange: hardest, with the most resistance.

- What is the ARK proSqueezer set?
It is a set of three V-shaped oral motor tools that give resistance when squeezed. They support biting skills, tongue elevation and lip closure. The set was invented by speech and language therapist Angeliki Xygka and is made by ARK Therapeutic in the USA. - Who is the proSqueezer for?
It is for children and young people who need to build lip, tongue or jaw strength. ARK does not state an age range, so we suggest following your therapist's advice. It is used by therapists, school staff and parents, always with an adult supervising. - Can it help children with SEND?
Yes, it can support children with SEND who have reduced oral strength or control. The three graded tools let an adult build resistance step by step. It works best as part of a programme set by a speech and language therapist and practised regularly. - Which colour should we start with?
Start with the magenta tool, which is the easiest. ARK suggests moving on to the yellow tool and then the orange tool, which has the most resistance. Move up a level only when the current one feels comfortable, following your therapist's guidance. - How is it used for the lips and jaw?
For lip closure, hold the magenta or yellow tool between the lips and squeeze using only the lips. For jaw strength, place the indented areas of the yellow tool between the teeth and bite down. Always supervise and keep sessions short. - Can it be used in school?
Yes, it suits school use by trained staff following a therapy plan. The colour-coded levels make it easy to record which stage a pupil has reached. We recommend each pupil has their own set, cleaned by hand or on the top rack of a dishwasher. - How big are the tools?
Each tool is about 19 cm (7.5 inches) long and about 3.3 cm (1.3 inches) at the widest part. All three tools share the same V shape but give different levels of resistance when squeezed, from magenta (easiest) to orange (hardest). Their size makes them easy to hold and store. - How do I clean the proSqueezer?
Hand wash, or place on the top rack of a dishwasher. ARK advises no drying cycle or added heat. Check the tools regularly and replace them if you see any wear or damage, as you would with any oral motor tool.
