One in a series of simple yet effective games, designed by primary school teacher Christine Towndrow. This game helps with practising the letter sounds from A to Z and initial blend sounds e.g. ’sh-’& ’tr-’ using word and picture clues.
The gameboard is a double-sided A3 size laminated card, with a game involving the alphabet printed on one side, and a game involving initial blends on the other. As the players move round the board they land on squares containing a picture cue and part spelling to show the sound of a letter or blend. They say the sound and look for the letter(s) that represent this sound. If the answer lies in their coloured section, they can mark it with a counter. The first player to go round the board and place all their counters in their coloured section is the winner.
