What is the IPEVO VZ-R?
The IPEVO VZ-R is an 8MP document camera, or visualiser, with two ways to connect. In HDMI mode it sends a Full HD picture straight to a projector, interactive panel or monitor without a computer. In USB mode it connects to a Mac, Windows PC or Chromebook for capture at up to 3264 x 2448 and for use with IPEVO Visualizer and video conferencing software.
Dyslexic pupils often find copying from the board and following small print on a busy page difficult and tiring. The VZ-R lets the teacher show the exact text the class is working on at a large size, keeping everyone on the same line.
How it helps in the classroom
The full autofocus lens keeps text sharp as pages move, and live video runs at up to 30 frames per second in Full HD. The capture area reaches 344 x 460 mm in 4:3, wide enough for A3 worksheets and open books. The camera stand and separate base give a steady view, and the camera folds to 11.6 x 10.8 x 30.1 cm for storage.
For schools
- No computer needed: HDMI mode connects straight to a display, which is useful in rooms without a teacher PC or during IT changes.
- Live modelling: show handwriting, annotation and practical work as part of Quality First Teaching.
- Supports pupils with dyslexia: enlarged text reduces copying and visual tracking effort.
- All key stages: suitable from EYFS to post-16, and for intervention groups and staff training.
- Distinctive colour: the Emerald Green finish is easy to spot in a shared equipment cupboard.
Supporting dyslexic learners
Dyslexia affects reading fluency, spelling and the ability to track text across a page. When the teacher enlarges a single sentence, highlights key words and models spellings as they are written, pupils can concentrate on understanding rather than on finding their place.
Why visual modelling matters
Step-by-step visual modelling is a widely used inclusive teaching approach that benefits pupils on the SEN register and the rest of the class together.

- What is the IPEVO VZ-R?
The IPEVO VZ-R is an 8MP dual-mode visualiser that connects by HDMI or USB. Teachers use it to show books, worksheets and objects live on a classroom display, either directly through HDMI or through a computer running IPEVO Visualizer or video conferencing software. - Do I need a computer to use the IPEVO VZ-R?
No, the VZ-R can connect straight to a projector, interactive panel or monitor through HDMI. In HDMI mode it shows images at up to 1920 x 1080. Connect by USB instead when you want higher-resolution capture at up to 3264 x 2448 or to use it in video calls. - How does a visualiser support dyslexic pupils?
A visualiser supports dyslexic pupils by enlarging the text the class is working on. Pupils with dyslexia often find copying from the board and tracking small print tiring. Seeing one sentence large on the main screen helps them keep their place and follow modelled reading and spelling. - How large an area can the VZ-R capture?
The VZ-R captures up to 344 x 460 mm in 4:3 format, or 270 x 480 mm in 16:9. That comfortably covers A3 worksheets and open textbooks, so the whole page can be shown before zooming in on a particular line. - Which year groups is the IPEVO VZ-R suitable for?
The VZ-R is suitable for every key stage, from EYFS to post-16. It is operated by the teacher or teaching assistant, so it works for whole-class teaching, small intervention groups and staff training. HDMI mode also makes it a simple choice for rooms without a teacher computer. - What comes in the box with the VZ-R?
The box contains the camera head and stand, a base, a 150 cm USB Type-C to Type-A cable, a screwdriver and four screws. A power adapter is not included. IPEVO covers the VZ-R with a three-year warranty from the date of purchase.
