The Scanmarker Max and EasyReader bundle is a complete reading and study package for one student: a Scanmarker Max reading pen plus a 12-month EasyReader licence from Dolphin Computer Access. The pen captures and reads text aloud, and EasyReader turns that text into summaries, flashcards, quizzes and AI Tutor support. It is designed for dyslexic learners at school and at home.
One complete package, from page to revision
Use the Scanmarker Max take photo feature to capture a printed page, handwritten notes or a whiteboard, then upload the text straight into EasyReader. From there, every EasyReader feature is available on that text: read-aloud with synchronised word highlighting, dyslexia-friendly fonts and colours, and the Explore study tools.
Summaries, AI Tutor, flashcards and quizzes: the Explore study tools
The Explore study tools are what set EasyReader apart from a standard read-aloud app. They take any text and turn it into active learning, so learners spend less effort getting through the words and more effort understanding and remembering them.
- Summary: condenses a long chapter, article or worksheet into its key points. For dyslexic learners this cuts the volume of reading, so energy goes on understanding rather than decoding page after page.
- AI Tutor: gives guided support with the text, helping learners explore what they have read and make sense of it at their own pace.
- Flashcards: turn any text into flashcards to revisit key ideas, a practical way to practise, learn and remember.
- Quiz: checks understanding straight after reading, so learners know what has gone in and what to go back to.
Capture a page of a textbook or the notes on the whiteboard in class, and within moments it can become a summary, a set of flashcards or a quiz for revision at home.
EasyReader also gives access to a library of books and learning resources, including the Bookshare collection of 1.4 million books.
For schools
- One purchase covers in-class reading support and independent revision for a pupil.
- Can be recorded as assistive technology provision within the graduated approach and EHCP or SEN support plans.
- The pen works without a computer, and EasyReader runs on Chromebooks, Windows, iPad and Android.
- School purchase orders accepted.
For parents and home use
- Your child reads homework questions with the pen instead of waiting for help.
- Capture class notes or worksheets and turn them into flashcards for revision at home.
- The AI Tutor offers support when a parent is not available to explain.
Why it works for dyslexia
Dyslexia affects decoding and reading fluency, not understanding. The Scanmarker Max removes the decoding barrier on the spot, and EasyReader reduces how much has to be read and gives a structured way to practise and remember it. This is a huge benefit for dyslexic learners, who often spend far more effort reading than their peers.
Exam use
The Scanmarker Max includes an Exam Lock function that restricts selected features. Exam use is at the discretion of the candidate's exam centre, who decide all access arrangements in line with current JCQ regulations. See the JCQ access arrangements guidance.
If you would like help deciding whether this bundle suits a particular pupil or your child, our team is happy to help before you order.

- Scan and read aloud: draw the pen across printed text to hear it spoken through the speaker or headphones.
